I attended Melodies DJ academy due to my many years partying hard and wishing always it was me up there entertaining the crowd! Melodie was a great inspiration to me seeing her at Speedqueen as she always worked the crowd into the best possible dance frenzy and always had a smile on her face!
After purchasing CDJ's and not understanding the logistics i was about to give up all hope until i found Miss M had an academy - after a few motivational emails i signed up and can honestly say it was one of the best ideas and moves ive ever made (and theres not been many!)
Melodie is patient teacher, a great motivator and inspirational guru who inspired me at every lesson even when i hit the effects button too much! Melodies Dj Academy is a must for anyone who wants to learn, improve their technique or just wants to hone their skills and get advice!
Thanks Melodie , my inspiration, guru and most of all a new and lifelong friend! X x

Music has been my passion since I was in my early teens. I worked in an old record shop for work experience in Hyde Park, Leeds and started to pay attention to electronic music after being shown a load of vinyl and a pair of technics. The first ever record I owned was Flowers by Armand Van Helden and thought, what have I been missing!
I listened to house music now and then but didn't really pay attention to it until I was in my early 20's. I started clubbing at places like Wax:on and progressed into listening to more deeper sounds and knew I had to become a DJ.
I bought myself a pair of CDJ's, went about learning the ropes but never really got into vinyl. I wanted to give myself an edge and consider myself as a "complete" DJ by learning on wax. I went to Melodie and after only two lessons, I was playing in clubs on vinyl and collecting all the ltd edition releases I'd been missing out on.
If you're even just considering DJ'ing, don't think twice, contact the DJ academy. It's given me so much more confidence and gave me the last push I needed to get where I want to be.

Learning to DJ with Melodie was the best decision I’ve made in a long time. No need to compare with any other institutions. Melodies DJ Academy is hands down top quality, teaching you everything there is to know at your pace.
I started as an almost beginner, due to practicing in my bedroom once or twice. Melodie has given me the knowledge and skills that make me confident enough to play out. I am now gathering interest and looking for work in clubs, something of which I would not have confidently been able to do prior to this course.
Not only has she taught me to use top equipment and techniques such as beat matching, using effects, looping and sampling, but Miss Melodie has helped me find my style as a DJ and shown me how to promote myself within the industry.
I am now well on my way to achieving my goal as an established house DJ thanks to Miss Melodie. I would highly recommend and I’m gutted its over. Will definitely keep in touch. Thanks.

If you want to get into djing and finding it difficult to teach yourself as I was, you should definitely get on this course! Melodie knows everything there is to know about djing and is excellent at passing on her skills.
She has taught me so much during the course and I have seen a major difference in my mixing. I am now confident in incorporating acapellas and effects into my mixes. Every session is always a laugh and a laid back atmosphere, but learning at the same time, Im gutted its over!

Becoming a DJ was something that I had never stopped thinking about since being a teenager, but I never had the confidence to do anything about it. I can remember being about 10 years old and having my first Hifi system with twin tape decks trying to mix one song into another on those and play the singing of one song over the top of a beat in the other tape deck. Obviously it never sounded any good becuase I didn't know about beat matching then.
After years of listening and watching Melodie play at Speed Queen every Saturday as I danced and wished it was me up there, the minute I heard she had an academy of her own to teach people and share her skills with people like me I snapped up the chance immediately.
I really enjoyed the one to one no pressure lessons, Melodie made me feel relaxed and confident that I could do it and it was a lot of fun doing what I absolutely love, house music!

I always wanted to control music.there were many schools i attended but i didnt achieve anything. When i moved to Leeds from Lithuania i found Miss melodies academy
it seemed unreal at first! Melodie is one wonderful teacher who got me into musics world from the first lesson..i got deeper and deeper and after a few sessions with Miss M i understood that it wasnt just music created one after another all the mixing, playing that she taught me left a big impression of how many things a person could do with a range of music.
Obviously it depends on the teacher and the way she teaches and explains everything to you. She was a wonderful teacher! To be honest ive never met a better teacher in my life.she showed me everything and its unbelievable how much a persons understanding and teachers knowledge can do together. Ive learnt everything i wanted and i can truly say that my dream came true because of her!!
many thanks

I just wanted to show a some appreciation to the person who has helped me to be where I am today...
I had always loved music & had some wicked Gemini decks (not) when I was about 16, always having a go at parties but just for a laugh.
After seeing Miss Melodie play a wicked set at SpeedQueen I got in touch to find out that she had a DJ academy, I signed up straight away and have never looked back. Joining the academy was, without doubt one of the best things I have ever done and I have to say my life has changed quite a lot since, in a good way of course :) The academy gave me confidence, made me excited at what I was able to do and made me want to become a DJ more and more, and that's exactly what I did...
Without the academy I would probably have a mix every now and again but I don't think I would have ever had the confidence to try and play a set in a bar/club... Now this is a regular thing for me and I love it...
So Big love, respect and a massive thank you to Miss Melodie, my mentor and a very special friend... X x x x

When I started at the academy I wasn't a beginner, more of an enthusiast who needed a kick up the backside! I'd been content to just mix for my podcast for a few years but having sessions with Melodie gave me the confidence and the desire to play out and entertain. I didn't think I was good enough to play in a club or that the kind of music I played would make people dance but it didn't take long for me to realise that I wasn't far off.
Melodie helped me to focus of making my sound more professional looking at things like EQ's, the all important volume levels and more creative things like acapella mashups and sound effects. She helped me build the foundations of a good technical ability and has given me the inspiration to continue building this up and making myself better.
After much encouragement I finally sent a demo cd to a club in Leeds and now i'm a resident dj for Glasshouse at Mezz in Leeds playing in the funky room. It's been a real buzz playing for such a big club and an up for it crowd, it just encourages me to want to learn more and explore new techniques. Melodie has helped me get here no doubt!

Doin Melodies DJ Academy really helped me in more ways than one. On my first session I had already learnt a few things which I didn't know before, the 6 week course is a brilliant programme which gives you one on one teaching which is a real confidence booster, learning everything from beat matching to acapella's, all the basic things are covered, that girl must have the patience of a saint, she is fab, and is very understanding and patient.
I would defo recommend the course to anyone who is wanting to get into djing.

I would recommend a course with Melodies DJ Academy to anyone thinking about learning to dj or any dj who wants to improve their skills. I started as a complete beginner, I had never touched a pair of decks or a mixer before my first lesson, I'd always just sat back and let other people do it! 6 lessons later I've learnt the basics of beat matching, beat teasing, my mixing has got much smoother, and I’m already trying out acapellas and experimenting with effects. I finished the beginner’s course with an hour-long demo CD of tunes I love, mixed by me and I'm on the decks whenever I have any spare time! Miss Melodie is a brilliant teacher, very patient, very encouraging and clearly knows her stuff - anyone thinking of having lessons, join the Academy you will learn so much from her!

If I could give anyone any advice about DJing it would be to join this academy. Within half an hour I had learnt something. Not only did Melodie re-assure me that the good things I was doing were right, she also helped me improve in lots of other areas. My mixing became smoother and I grew in confidence as the weeks went on. I really enjoyed learning new areas of DJing such as beat teasing, acapellas and effects. I have no doubt that this course not only improved my confidence and mixing but enabled me to play out much quicker than teaching myself. It's great fun too and I was sad to end the course as I was so used to looking forward to my lessons. I would have no doubt about recommending this course to anyone who needs a bit of extra help or wants to start learning to be a DJ from the beginning.

I tought myself to mix at 12 years old, living in the middle of nowhere in the Yorkshire dales it took me years to progress and be able to beat-match properly, and on vinyl it was tough. Clair (Miss Melodie) was one of the 1st DJ's I saw play in Leeds @ Speedqueen and she along with Tin-Tin really inspired me to want to get DJing on the Leeds scene, so I made it my mission to play Speedqueen, and since then I've gone on to play some of the worlds biggest events.
I can confidently say that if your wanting to learn how to DJ you're in safe hands and I couldnt think of anyone better to learn the skills from than one of Leeds' finest and longest serving DJ's...

What a wicked way of giving something back to the industry...
I taught myself to DJ but i've given a few people lessons and know how hard it can be to try and relay your skills through somebody else but when it comes off the feeling is very satisfying!
If you're a bedroom DJ who wants to improve your mixing skills or you're in need of taking your mixing to a new level with some advanced tutoring then give Miss Melodie a shout... You won't be disapointed...
